Global currency trading involves the buying and selling of world’s currencies, especially the most formidable ones on foreign exchange markets. Initially only the privileged few like the giant banks and top shot financiers had access to this extremely lucrative market. But with the ubiquitous presence of internet, the opportunity of trading in global forex is not restricted in the hands of the big players. The small time investors can also tap the high profit potential of the forex market to make some good money.

There are some typical advantages associated with trading currency in the global forex market that has made it the world’s largest money spinning market.

First of all, unlike the domestic stock markets, in global forex you can trade 24-hours a day. The Forex market opens every day in Sydney moving westward as the day advances. A truly globalized market, the trading moves around the globe as the trading opens in each prime center, first to Tokyo, London, and New York. Thus, unlike any other financial market, you can instantly respond to any type of fluctuations in any currency followed by economic, social and political events. And you can easily take decision the time they occur—day or night.

Unlike the domestic stock market, you do not have to deal with a share agent and do not have to pay any commsion for making the trade. The FX market is Over the Counter type of market. It operates on the ‘interbank’ basis. Thus transactions are conducted between two parties in two different parts of the world via internet or over the telephone.

Then leverage is also substantially high in this market and practically you can make deals 100 times greater than the value of your deposit money.

You do not have to be present in person in the market to carry on the trade. Because it is not a market in the traditional sense of the term. Trading is not restricted to any centralized location. Trading occurs worldwide and Forex is the world’s largest and most intense market.

The forex trading involves the business on the spot between the US dollar and the
six major currencies (Japanese Yen, Euro, British Pound, Swiss Franc, Canadian Dollar and Australian Dollar). Thus it is a gigantic market which can not be controlled by any single factor or player. No one player can directly manipulate the trends of the market. This trait makes it the most exciting market in the world. Along side the major players like Central banks, private banks, international corporations, and money managers the small time speculators can also make unlimited money in the forex market.

So you can clearly see that there are significant opportunities of making money in this biggest market of the world. But there are risk factors as well. The aggressive day traders might experience substantial profit-loss swings per day.

Fortunately, there are no daily limits on foreign exchange trading and no restrictions on trading hours other than the weekend. This implies you will always get an opportunity to react to the particular trends and a lower risk of getting trapped into bad deals without the opportunity of getting out.

Commodity ETFs (exchange traded funds) are made up predominantly of things derived or cultivated from the Earth. These include energies, such as oil and natural gas, agriculture, which includes crops and livestock, and metals, like silver and gold. Commodity ETFs are also made up of currency exchange traded funds. An exchange traded fund is similar to a mutual fund with one major difference being that it is traded on the market like a stock.

A Gold ETF was launched in March of 2003. Gold ETFs are shares of gold issued as a certificate. This is appealing to some gold investors (coined gold bulls in the marketplace) because they can own gold without having to store the physical inventory.

The gold exchange traded fund inventory is securely stored by their holders in vaults. The holder that launched the first gold ETF is StreetTracks Gold Shares. Incidentally, they are also the largest holder of the fund. The corporation holds such a vast amount of gold that it has recently had to find a larger vault in which to store it. Currently StreetTracks Gold Shares stores about 584 tons of gold, with a value of almost 18 billion dollars. When the ETF launched in 2003 they had only 8 tons.

Gold ETFs are considered a good hedge fund for a commodity exchange traded fund portfolio because of the stability gold has shown over the years. Gold’s value has kept up with inflation for more than 100 years. Recently gold ETFs have been up and down, but as a long term investment, gold is thought by many to be one of the safest.

1/10 of an ounce of gold is equivalent to one share. The average cost to trade a gold ETF is about 0.4%. This is a full percent less than other commodity ETFs. Gold is considered to offer the most liquidity of commodity ETFs, making gold the savvy investors choice.

Recently the name of StreetTracks Gold ETF was changed to SPDR Gold Trust, though its symbol, GLD, remains the same. This was a re-branding done to pull all of the corporations commodity ETF funds under one umbrella, making it simpler for investors to find all of the products they offer

SPDR Gold ETF declined by 12.5% in April of 2008, the steepest since the inception of the ETF. It is expected to be back on the rise with analysts suspecting it will hit record highs by the end of the year.

There are financial advisors who advise against gold ETFs because they feel the funds are a bad choice. Other than for making jewelry, they say, gold is a useless commodity. They also warn that the capital gains tax on gold is almost double that of other commodity ETFs. Some advisors are concerned that the storage of the gold is so secretive, making it impossible to know if the gold is adequately secure.

Most financial advisors and analysts praise gold ETFs as a safe, secure investment because the price of gold, they claim, cannot decline due to political uprise or the fall of financial institutions. They say that gold will always have a value. The global demand for gold ETFs is in a constant upswing, even in the current troubled financial state. Gold ETF, the experts tell us, is of the most secure and trusted assets to invest in today. Consider adding a gold ETF to your commodity ETFs, chances are you won’t regret it.

Ryan helps you understand gold ETFs and how you can profit from investing in a gold ETF

If you know more or less all there is to know about investing directly in stocks and shares, or in collective forms of investment, or the management of your investments, or the tax implications, or the pros and cons of offshore investing, then you might not need much more in the way of financial investment advice. Unless you happen to be one of those very rare individuals, however, you will almost certainly benefit from the sound and impartial financial investment advice of a professional, independent financial adviser.

Types of Investment

Direct Investment

Your choice of investment types fall into two basic categories – direct investment in the shares of a particular company or its issued bonds or, in the case of government-issued bonds, its “gilt-edged stock”. The price of company shares, of course, will fluctuate as they are traded on the stock market and the dividends to which you are entitled as an owner of those shares will be determined by the performance of that particular company.

In the case of bonds issued by a company, or gilts issued by the government, however, you will be assured of the rate of interest on what is effectively your loan to that company or the government, and you will be assured of the full return on your investment once the bond or government stock reaches its maturity date. Because of these in-built certainties, there is a lower risk inherent in the investment in corporate bonds or government gilts, and the returns, therefore, tend to be lower than in the more volatile market for shares.

Both corporate and government bonds can be traded in the market, however, before they reach their maturity date. During this time, their price will be determined by the prevailing rates of interest in the stick market, compared to the rate attached to the bond itself.

“Collective” Investment

If you want to avoid putting all your eggs in the one basket of a particular company’s shares, it is possible instead to spread the risk of your investment by pooling it (with other investors) into a range of different investments. In this case, the pooled investment is managed by a professional fund manager, who makes decisions on the range and types of investment. Such collective schemes fall – again, broadly – into three different types: unit trusts, investment trusts and Open-ended Investment Companies (OEICs).

Once you have reached this level of investment decision-making, however, the vast range of unit trusts, investment trusts and OEICs available can open up a veritable Pandora’s Box of choices. In order to avoid making potentially very costly mistakes or rash investment decisions, therefore, this is the stage at which – if you have not done so before – you should consult an independent financial adviser.

Summary

Financial investment advice is wisely taken because of the sheer range of investment vehicles available:

• These fall into the two broad categories of direct investment or “collective” (pooled) investment;

• Direct investments include the purchase of stocks and shares or corporate or government (so-called “gilt-edged” stock);

• The principal types of collective investment are in unit trusts, investment trusts or Open-ended Investment Companies (OEICs);

• Whatever your personal intuition regarding the best investment type for you, however, the best financial investment advice is going to come from an independent financial adviser.

titleWhere to Find Penny Stocks/titlepEveryone has heard the story – some guy gets rich investing in some no-name penny stock. If youve heard it once youve heard it a thousand times, and youre probably just about ready to find out if there is any truth in this story. But what is a penny stock and where can you find them? A penny stock is a common stock that is priced at less than $5.00 per share. They are not part of any of the three major exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ, or AMEX), and are traded over the counter or through quotation services, like Pink Sheets. Some people believe that few people get involved in buying and selling penny stocks, but share volumes traded daily can be in the hundreds of millions for a sub-penny stock./ppInvesting in penny stocks can be a risky business. Many new investors are lured to penny stock due to the low price and potential for rapid growth – some penny stocks can grow as much as several hundred percent in a three day time span. Of course, with potential for substantial gains comes potential for substantial loss. In fact, the SEC warns that penny stocks are high risk investments and are often marked by limited liquidity, lack of financial reporting, and fraud. Therefore, it is important to carefully investigate the source by which you find penny stocks youre considering./ppBecause of the high risks and potential for fraud surrounding penny stocks, it is important to find them from a reliable source for information. Education and research of any company is imperative for making smart investment decisions. Stocks on the NYSE, NASDAQ, or AMEX operate under rules and regulations determined by the SEC and investors can be reasonably sure that they are operating in a fair and orderly manner. Regulation by the SEC also protects investors from fraud in the sale of securities, market manipulations and illegal sales practices. However, these rules and regulations do not apply to penny stock trading./ppAlthough most information available on the web regarding penny stocks is unreliable, there are a number of places you can trust to find good penny stocks. It is important to find a credible source before making any investment, particularly in one involving such extensive risk. Web sites hosted by trusted names such as Citron Research and Beacon Equity provide detailed analysis of several penny stock companies. They perform extensive research to expose the companys operations, business plans, available capital and facts about its subsidiaries and management./ppYou can also find penny stocks by contacting a broker who sells them, but again, it is imperative that you do your research before you trust the suggestions of any broker. Associations such as the U.S. Brokers and Brokerage Firms and Commodity Brokers provide information and histories on various brokers and firms who sell certain stocks. Any time an investor makes a claim again a broker or brokerage, they are filed and viewable at web sites hosted by those agencies. This is a very important part of the process of finding a good penny stock./ppCandis Reade is an accomplished niche website developer and author. There is an estimated 5.2 million commercial properties within the UK. The commercial property market expanded by over 32 per cent during 1990-2000 (according to the new products started) compared with the previous decade, in itself a decade of exceptional growth. Bank lending for commercial property deals rose by a record £7.7 billion in the first quarter of 2005, according to data provided by the Bank of England, and property experts believe the bulk of the new lending was for investment purchases.

There has also been a substantial rise in the number of investors looking to buy commercial properties to put into Self Invested Personal Pension Schemes. Property investment funds received a boost as of late last year after the Government announced plans to allow them to be included in an ISA (Individual Savings Account) wrapper.

Savers will now be able to add investments, such as property funds and funds of funds, that have previously been restricted from being included in ISA’s because the asset class did not feature on a European standard of eligible investments and commercial property funds are seemingly the greatest beneficiary of the rule change.

With this diversified interest in commercial property by investor, speculator and businesses alike the role of the broker has become a more integral part of the process. Increasing numbers of mortgage brokers have branched out into non regulated markets such as the commercial loan sector since Mortgage Day in late 2004 and subsequent involvement by the Financial Services Authority, interestingly 58 per cent of mortgage brokers claim profits are down since Mortgage Day.

Commercial lending is now not the preserve of the high street banks who, in the past, have not only seemed to cherry pick but have also had a tendency to only lend to their existing business customers. The result was that there are now over 1,200 commercial lenders currently operating within the UK.

The competitive market for commercial lending has also been confirmed by the rates available. There are also many other flexible options such as rolled up interest (No interest payments) for the first year to help with cash flow, start up finance, business expansion finance or even for finance on low yield investment properties.

Lenders will typically lend up to 80 per cent loan to value but 100% is achievable with additional security. Three years audited accounts are also now not the normal requirement as self certification of income has also found its way into commercial lending. Adverse credit clients are now considered and in the majority of cases loans approved. However self certification and bad credit applicants can expect a loading on the rate of typically between 1 to 4 per cent.

A cross section of business funding is available to retail businesses such as convenience stores, fast food outlets, specialist shops and supermarkets. Investment properties, professional practices such as accountants, doctors, vets and solicitors. Property development including speculative or pre-let for both commercial and residential. Offices and factories along with the health care sector including nursing homes, residential care and special needs homes. The leisure market has also been seen as the main stay for commercial lending over many years embracing hotels, guest houses, cafes, restaurants, wine bars and pubs.

Although latterly pubs have often sought brewery loans as a traditional way of borrowing money in the trade often referred to as Advance of Discount (AOD) or “Write Off” loans, the interest rates seem favourable at significant discounts over the banks but barrelage discount is affected and the repayment terms are often shorter over 10 years.

Lending on leasehold is also available up to 65 per cent on the security property (often the applicants main residence). With many businesses failing in the first year and business failure rates up 13 per cent in the first quarter of 2006 applicants must carefully consider whether they should be securing their main residence against the lease.

To calculate monthly charges use one of our many custom built calculators. Commercial loan applications, for both single and joint applicants, are processed on our own dedicated secure server.

Mortgage-Loan-UK is a premier resource for personal finance information along with an extensive collection of mortgage related calculators. commercial property finance is available to 100% with additional security along with non status and self certification lending, short term bridging loan facilities arre available with 2 day completion plans.

1) What is forex trading?
Forex trading is trading between two currencies. For example, you buy a certain currency now and wait for the currency to appreciate in value. After which, you sell it off and then keep the profits.
Sounds easy? Far from that.

2) How is it done?
Traders use technical analysis to examine the history of market prices and the turnover of relevant financial instruments in order to identify the market trend and its possible changes. In addition, they monitor these statistical surveys very closely in order to have early access to data about a certain country’s performance. From there, traders gain insight about currency movements in order to help them ‘buy low sell high’. That preparation work alone is far from easy. It requires much of your time researching and analyzing the data, just to make sure the currency you buy doesn’t end up depreciating in value instead.

3) Forex trading can be very profitable but…
Indeed, forex trading is a potentially profitable opportunity. But never forget the high risk high return rule. As with any other investment, the high return from Forex trading comes hand in hand with high risk that the investor has to bear. Before deciding to trade foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. You should be aware of all the risks associated with foreign exchange trading, and seek advice from an independent financial adviser if you have any doubts.

4) Is forex trading for you?
Trading foreign currencies is a challenging and potentially profitable opportunity for educated and experienced investors. The good news is, it comes with experience.

Do You Need a Life Bailout?

The latest financial news has everyone preoccupied with the negatives of the declining financial market. I was reading an article in the Baltimore Sun newspaper the other day about how the news of financial woes has impacted individual consumer confidence and the result is people are so worried that they are doing nothing with their goals, dreams or plans for the future. They are putting them on hold until there is a clear picture of things getting better. Is this you?

I thought that this was important to discuss this week because in every adversity is an opportunity of equal or greater value. You see, even in declining markets, wealth is created and opportunities exist. Think about:

the investors who are now able to acquire more stock affordably and hold it until the value restores the family that decides to purchase their dream home now and get all the options and closing costs included the mother who finally decides to start her own business because her family needs extra income. Remember that we create our own realities.

What I have done in this financial market is invest more in myself by reading more, learning from the coaches in my life, and taking steps to ensure that I learn ways to grow my business during these difficult economic times. People ask me all the time how is the coaching business? I have learned that people want coaching even more now then ever to create new personal options. What if instead I sang the song that because of the economy no one can afford coaching. The truth is you can’t afford not to have a coach help you create the life that you want.

My challenge to you this week is to to look at your life and write down how this temporary financial downshift can create opportunity for you in your life, with your family, work or business. You might answer the following ways:

This has taught my family the benefit of simplicity and how abundant we really are. You decided you don’t want to work for someone else. The uncertainty of working for others was confirmed during this market shift and as a result you will explore entrepreneurship. You may have learned that you are a much better budgeter than you originally thought. You may have learned that you have been living above your financial means. Whatever your lesson(s), I encourage you to breathe it in. Learn from your life.

An introduction to Forex trading must first start with the understanding that Forex is the world’s largest and most liquid trading market and often times considered as the best home business anyone can ever venture into even with the much talked about risks of Forex trading. But trading Forex without understanding what exactly Forex is all about is where majority of the risk falls into. It is no secret that on daily basis more and more investors are shifting from stocks and other financial vehicles such as bonds and commodities to the all-electronic world of Forex trading for income and profit because of its numerous benefits & advantages over traditional trading vehicles such as those mentioned above.

The foreign exchange which is often times referred to as Forex and it is not traded from a central exchange as is the case with stocks. The Forex market is traded over-the-counter (OTC), or the Interbank market. The interbank market is the network of banks which are linked electronically 24 hours and the trade of foreign currency is conducted through these banks.

As an investor in the Forex market what you are doing in essence is simultaneously exchanging on countries currency for another. A good illustration is as follows: GBP/USD -The first currency (in this example, the GBP) is referred to as the base currency and the second (USD) as the counter or quote currency. So if you buy the GBP you are simultaneously selling the USD as shown in the pair above.

Just as on any other market, Forex trading though with an exclusively high potential profitability is essentially risky as well. It is possible to make a living from trading the Forex market, but this must be follow after a certain training including a familiarization with the structure and kinds of currency pairs, the principles of currencies price formation, the factors affecting prices alterations and trading risks levels. Mastering techniques and strategies on how to use technical and fundamental analysis to make your trading decision is a road you definitely can not avoid.

After acquiring the basic knowledge of Forex trading, the next step would be to open a demo trading account and begin to put all you have learned into practice. Only when you have built a strategy that generates consistent profit should you move to a live account.

Business Funding

Starting a business is an exciting and challenging prospect. What better way of taking control of your future by owning your own business. Many people start their own businesses because they don’t want to have a boss themselves. Maybe they look at their own boss and believe they can do a better job. If you think this then you are probably right and should go for it. Some of the famous entrepreneurs started out the same way, worked for companies, learnt from their mistakes and then went off and did a better job themselves.

Every business needs some kind of funding and there are many options available to you. Some of these are listed below:

Bank Financing
Bank finance is one of the most obvious routes to take when it comes to business finance. However getting a business bank loan these days is getting harder. Most bank will not give you the time of day unless you can offer good security and an equally good track record of business success. Banks generally provide money on a secured basis and will ask for a personal guarantee (PG) or they might take into consideration and assets you have like your home for example. All banks vary in terms of what they can offer startup businesses so it is important to talk to a few of them before making a decision. A good strategy would be to visit your existing bank first and then look around some others.

Self Funding
Self funding is always the best option if it is available to you. Self funding means finding the money yourself through either your savings or borrowing off friends and family. You could also look into releasing some of homes equity if you have any. Be very careful when it comes to borrowing off friends and family. Make sure they have a clear understanding of how and when their money will be repaid. You don’t want to lose or fall out with any friends and family so think very carefully about borrowing off them and making a contract with them with regards to the repayments would be wise.

Equity Finance
Equity financing is money acquired from the small business owners themselves or from other investors. Equity finance can be the saviour of many small or new businesses who are trying to raise funds for their business.

Equity equals true risk capital as there is no guarantee that the investor will get there money back. The big advantage however is that the money that is invested into your business from equity finance never has to be repaid. Investors to your business are prepared for risk capital in return for a growth share of your business profit.

Overdraft or Credit cards
Credit cards could be an option if you just need a bit of back up for unexpected purchases. Some businesses have very low initial set up costs which is where credit cards of bank overdrafts can be a good choice. Many banks are offering interest free rates for the first year which might just sort you out.

Business Angels
Getting hold a business angel is another good option. Business Angels are called this, because they often save struggling firms with both finance and advice, when no one else will. Angel investors understand the needs of new businesses due to having successfully set up their own company.
What type of funding you choice depends on your needs and your current situation. Many people try to get bank loans but when refused they then look into other options like equity funding or business angels. Whatever finance you decide to use for your business venture, make sure you make a realistic and informed decision based on your business needs. There is a lot to take into account and you need to ensure that you have all of your business information/facts sorted before making any decisions.

Carolyn is the webmaster of Angel Startups experts in offering all aspects of Business Funding.
